As of the 30th of August 2024, I’ll be hiking the South Downs Way from Winchester to Eastbourne - so from the rolling English countryside of Hampshire to the white chalky cliffs and sea of the East Sussex coastline
The SDW is one of the UK’s National Trails and will be the first of that set I undertake as a solo traveller, but solo does not mean lonely as given the time of year, there will be plenty of people walking, cycling or horseback riding the trail as well as staying at the various B&B’s/Hotel I’m going to take my daily rests at and the pubs/cafes/lookouts I’ll eat lunch at.
You can find more information on the SDW here - https://www.nationaltrail.co.uk/en_GB/trails/south-downs-way/
For this first leap into the world of solo hiking, I’ll be raising money for Prostate Cancer UK, the charity helping drive research and treatment of this insidious disease that was related to my Dad dying in February this year, you can find my JustGiving donation page at the following URL, even £1 can help, so please give generously - https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/steppingthroughlife-south-downs-way-national-trail-72738
Komoot offers a Live Tracking link, for those who are interested, which I will update here each day :
